Thanks Blondie and Nathan~! I have a little thin book with some WT old quotes printed in a scanned manner in it and have been thinking about trying to find a way to get the 50 year CD for a while now and surely will soon. I don't know any current JW's that would willingly help to get access to old books or anything, though; I live in Oklahoma but would love to be able to check out the east coast someday~!

Hi,
My wife's just started reading through a list of false prophecies, and I'm wondering how I can prove these quotes are real and not just put up by people who hate the WT? Many of these are really old, i.e. the ones dealing with 1925~!
Thanks for any help or advice~!

I feel so left out, I haven't had a JW knock on my door for about 14 years now. I just don't see them out in service. I've had one Mormon come to my door about 2 years ago and really that's about all.
El Kabong,
There is someone with the same moniker as your's at the harmony-central music forum~! If that's you, cool~! Cool either way.
I can relate, though; I probably haven't had a JW knock on my door in at least as long, though I saw some getting ready to visit a friend of mine's house and told him to go get a flag out and get ready - lol~!
I've never been a JW (married to one who's DF'd now), but I remember once when Mormans came to my door one day, and then the next a couple of JW's were at my door and I was basically telling them to beat it when I saw the 2 Mormans across the street and told the JW's, "There you go! Go witness to them!" And they just looked pi$$ed off at me and left.

Wonder if the 'faithful' avoided him - he is Da'd.
There may be a special 'celebrity clause' in that rule - not sure!

An Elder Told Me.... Many To Be Disfellowshipped Soon...
by Doubtfully Yours inan elder told me the book is jehovah's latest provision to cleanse his organization.. he said soon all people that have drifted, inactives, and others baptized and not complying with the biblical mandates for a jw, will be visited and given an option to shape up or ship out.. he said that if the person refuses the help offered by the congregation they'll be notified of the date of disfellowshipping and given time to appeal the decision.. he was so happy stating that this way jehovah's organization was preparing for the final clean-up before armageddon.
he sounded so convincing that it almost made perfect sense what he was saying.
i got goose bumps listening to his reasoning.. dy

We all at one time took on the job/title of JW for whatever reason, and if we're not performing to its expected standards, it's only fair that we should lose that job/title. That happens in any arena of life.
In the strictest religious sense you are right. Yet, when it comes to worshiping God correctly and living our lives within His standards, it is not. That's where the Scribes and the Pharisees erred. Matthew 23Also, the one thing I could see at some point eventually becoming a matter people might try to sue over is the WT not allowing active JW's to even speak to their own DF'd family members, such as is the case with my wife and her family. I'm certainly no expert, though; but people sue for anything these days, let alone something that ruins people's lives~!

Doesn't the thought of going back to such a spiritual paradise? make you feel all warm and fuzzy? Can't you feel the love?
Maybe I should get my suits pressed and shoes polished.
Walter
It seems if the WT says that's love, then their people will believe it...

The evidence AGAINST evolution
by AlmostAtheist inno, sorry, i won't be providing any.
this is a thread for those that have done some research and concluded that evolution is not how various species came to exist.. have you done the research?
do you believe that species exist as a result of god's direct creation?

The Leological One
IMO, just as with evolutionists feeling that people that believe in creation don't understand many aspects about evolution, it seems that many proponents for evolution don't understand many aspects of different creationists views, and just as with the evolutionists, there are divided camps of creationists.
One such view is that many creationists agree with gene mutation, changes within species over time, etc., but the major difference is where first life came from -- that many organisms were created and then changed over time to all the species we see today -- that there is change but within limits/parameters, even if some of the changes are viewed as large differences. Further, creationists generally view commonalities in nature as evidence of being created by one creator, much as there can be many types of things made out of clay by one person though each thing is still made of the same clay, and when going into genetics, what may sound like a very small percentage difference in DNA between one species and another is actually a much larger difference than simply looking at a percentile difference reveals.
There are many other views, as well, and likewise there are many strange theories among various camps of evolutionists regarding where first life originated and how, i.e. there being many proponents for panspermia (aliens planting life on the earth), etc...
I've previously spent much time doing research into both sides' views and feel there are generally misunderstandings and misconceptions by both sides -- each trying to simplify the other's views and sometimes setting up straw-men to tumble down. I don't even bother getting into online debates for the most part anymore (as I can't ever recall seeing one side getting the other to agree they are wrong) but rather try to find common views, such as agreeing the WT has messed up a lot of people's families and lives, etc.; it's far better to have fun agreeing on something universally affecting people that can be agreed on, IMO~!

New York, I agree. This wasn't a come join our fun family outline. This was a stop sitting on the fence you stupid bastQ#%@# outline. That's why they made such an effort to invite so many. Although some here weren't invited (lucky) there was a concerted effort to get the numbers up.
At the hall I went to, the speaker went into: "now don't get overwhelmed thinking about wanting to come to ALL the meetings, but make the effort to just come to one meeting, but do it religiously - coming to that one meeting (got laughs even from me). When you take them one at a time, it's easier to get in the habit" or something along those lines. I like that better than what else I've heard so far, though I was praying my wife won't want to start going back to all the meetings again even though she's DF'd~!
